The city used to be home of Germany's powerful prince-bishops, and you can still find their legacy in Würzburg's baroque architecture. The city became infamous for being the site of the first concentration camp built in Nazi Germany. Bavaria, Germany's largest state, lies in the southeast corner of the country and is bordered. Dachau 10 miles northeast of Munich you'll find the town of Dachau. After visiting the concentration camp, head into Dachau's Old Town, which has a very picturesque historic city center, overlooked by a castle. This medieval building has a lovely Trompe loeil (optical illusion) facade on the outside and a stunning clock tower among its most famed features. Located at the river Isar in Southern Bavaria, Munich is best known for its beautiful architecture, fine culture, and the annual Oktoberfest beer festival. For many travelers, Freiburg is just the gateway to the Black Forest, but the city has plenty to offer itself: a spectacular Minster, historical merchant's houses, medieval squares, and many laid-back restaurants and wine bars. With its many parks and surrounding vineyards, Stuttgart is one of the greenest cities in Germany.
Of special interest are the Hall of Mirrors and the Peacock Bedroom. Freiburg, this thriving university town is located right across the border of France and Switzerland, in the southwestern corner of Germany.

This Bavarian capital is the most populous city in Southern Germany. Walk atop the medieval wall that encircles the old city center, or go to the top of the historical Town Hall for a spectacular view of the region. And, of course, Munich hosts the annual Oktoberfest, the world's largest beer festival, which draws over 6 million visitors to the Bavarian capital every fall. Today, many centuries-old and well-preserved buildings stand testament to this rich heritage. Würzburg, located in the Franconian wine-growing region in Bavaria, Würzburg is set idyllically on both sides of the river Main. There is also a train route around the lake with stops at all of the points of interest. The highlight of the city is its Residence Palace (Residenz one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in Europe and part of the unesco World Heritage list. The Romantic Road travels between here and Fussen and is perfect for a day trip in either direction. The small town is only around 6,000 but it gets many tourists stopping through on bus trips along the Romantic road.
